Are you ready to make a difference in your community?

Your voice matters.

We’re introducing the Youth Philanthropy Program, designed to nurture empathy, personal growth, and confidence. This program offers hands-on experience in grant allocation, putting you in control. You'll have the power to identify critical issues and determine where funds go, all while earning a stipend for your time.

Applications accepted through January 5, 2024 or until all slots are filled. Meetings begin February 6, 2024 and continue every three weeks from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at 594 Columbia Road, Suite 211.

Our Youth Engagement Initiatives

Boston Explorers

The Boston Explorers program engages children and youth in a dynamic summer program.

Founded in 2011 and relaunched in collaboration with the Foundation in summer 2023, Boston Explorers, is an urban day camp committed to high quality, out-of-school learning experiences for young people based on the belief that all children should have full and equitable access to our city and its rich history, culture, and commercial and natural resources. The camp typically serves 120 young people each summer, ages 7-17, primarily from Boston’s Dorchester, Roxbury, Hyde Park and Mattapan neighborhoods. Its mission is to help children develop a sense of autonomy, master skills and enrich their sense of curiosity using the city as their campground.

Kids Helping Kids

We emphasize youth involvement in their own communities, providing opportunities for young people to organize service initiatives that they deem valuable. These initiatives cultivate empathy, personal growth, and confidence—what we call Kids Helping Kids.

In 2022, our Kids Helping Kids events incorporated young people’s ideas in finding ways to give back to their communities. In collaboration with our nonprofit partners, young people assembled and distributed holiday meal bags, clothing, gift cards and self-care items to over 400 young people and their families across Boston and Lynn communities in Massachusetts.

Internships at Someone Else’s Child

Someone Else’s Child Foundation collaborates with high schools and post-secondary partners to engage youth in our mission-driven work.

Current Partners

Someone Else’s Child Foundation also supports the creation of new internship programs and provides funding, guidance, and support to continue to develop internship programming that exists within our grantee partners, both in the US and abroad.

We elevate youth voices in communities by directly engaging young people and collaborating with nonprofit partners that create opportunities for youth to choose their futures.
